Ceremonial goblet to drink to the marriage of the merchant Arent Musquetier (Leiden 1710-1755) and Johanna van Immerseel (Leiden 1713-1781).  The glass is signed 'WOR' to the lower right in the cartouche. 'WOR' are the initials of Willem Otto Robart. He was born in 1696 in The Hague, moved in 1740 to the city of Leiden wher he died in 1750. Robart became a member of the guild of Sint Lukas in 1747 as 'konstenaar' (artist). Later on he was also mentioned as 'graveerder in Cristal' (engraver of glass).

"There are only eight glasses known signed by Robart" (P.C. Ritsema van Eck 1980 and 1995). This and another glass in our collection can be added to Robart's oeuvre.
