Around the bowl and on the saucer depictions of a mermaid playing the violin and a man standing on the back of a boat. On a banderole the text; GARDES VOUS DE LA SYRENE. The scene refers to the story of the Ilias where Odysseus and his men sail by the isle of the Sirens.
