Bill Gudenrath (Corning Museum of Glass, New York) famous for his research into traditional glass-blowing techniques, will open the exhibition with a lecture on

Analyzing Ancient Glassworking Techniques: Getting it Right, and Getting it Wrong.

Using video images Bill Gudenrath will illustrate various interpretations of how specific pieces were made, such as core-formed bottles, Roman ribbed bowls and a number of blown glass objects.

Iridescence: boon or burden?

A small presentation in Amsterdam's Allard Pierson Museum showcases the collection of Roman glass, concentrating particularly on the glasses with irridescence.
